What it’s like
A city-centre cinema in Derby with a café bar, closed Monday to Wednesday and open 11am to 9pm the rest of the week.
This is a proper cinema rather than a soft play with a screen bolted on, so it suits kids who can sit through a film rather than ones who need to run about between scenes. Standard tickets are £10.50, concessions £8.50, and there's a café bar on site if you want a drink before or after, though last orders are 30 minutes before closing so don't leave it too late.
It's only open Thursday to Sunday, 11am to 9pm, and shut Monday to Wednesday, so this isn't a spontaneous rainy Tuesday plan, it needs to land on the right day of the week. On days when a film starts earlier than the usual opening time, the box office opens half an hour before that first screening, so check the film time rather than assuming the doors open at 11.
Parking is worth knowing about before you set off. There's no car park attached to the building itself, but Chapel Street and ParkSafe on Bold Lane are both close by, and if you get your ticket validated at the box office it's a flat £2.70 for all day parking. If you're coming by train, Derby station is just over a mile away, about a 15 minute walk or a short taxi ride.
The building itself is fully accessible, with a lift to the upper floors and wheelchair spaces in all three cinemas, either independent or next to a companion seat. It's also a CredAbility Verified Accessible building and accepts the CredAbility Access card for discounted tickets. Assistance dogs with formal ID are welcome throughout, and staff will reserve access row seats if you ask.
