What it’s like

Paint your own pottery or try fused glass and mosaic workshops, with birthday parties for kids from age 7.

This is a studio for painting your own pottery, plus a rotating list of craft workshops: fused glass, stained glass mosaic, steampunk mixed media and silk painting. It suits kids from about 7 upwards, old enough to sit still with a brush and glaze without wanting to eat it.

Birthday parties are the obvious use for it. £15 a head gets a pottery painting party, you bring your own cake and refreshments, and there's a £50 deposit to hold the date. Refreshments are provided free on the regular courses too, which is a nice touch given some places charge for a cup of tea on top of everything else.

Opening hours are a bit of a patchwork, open Wednesday to Saturday with different times each day, and closed Monday, Tuesday and Sunday except for booked events. Worth knowing they sometimes shut for craft fairs or courses as well, so it is not a guaranteed walk-in any day of the week. Wear something you don't mind getting messy, or bring an old shirt, and pack a jumper if you're going in winter since that's their own advice.

Parking is free on site with space to unload right outside, and there's disabled access, an accessible toilet and room for a mobility scooter if you let them know in advance. It opened in August 2022.
