What it’s like
A crazy golf course tucked into Cheddar Gorge with a stone grotto and water feature to putt round.
You're putting your way round a course built into Cheddar Gorge itself, with a proper 19th century stone grotto and a water feature to navigate rather than the usual plastic windmill. That bit of history is what lifts it above your average crazy golf, and it's the detail worth saving your camera for at the end of the round.
It's £6.75 a player, with non-playing spectators let in for 50p, so grandad can tag along without picking up a club. There's no need to book if it's just your family, though the site does ask groups of ten or more to give them a heads up, which is fair enough when you think about everyone queueing at the first hole at once.
It runs Spring to Autumn, open every day from 10.30am to 5pm through April to September, dropping to weekends only in March and October. Last entry's 5pm, so don't roll up at quarter to expecting a full round. Dogs are welcome too, so if you're walking the gorge and fancy a break, you can bring the dog round with you rather than leaving it in the car.
There's no age range given, but a course like this tends to suit kids old enough to hold a putter properly and follow a bit of a route, with younger ones happy enough just splashing about near the water feature.
