What it’s like
A jungle-themed adventure golf course booked in advance, taking about an hour to play round as a group.
Eighteen holes wind through waterfalls, caves and islands, with the course making a point of the noise near the cave and second island. If you've got a child who covers their ears at loud bangs, that's the bit to know about in advance. Nobody needs to have swung a club before either, the rules are simple enough to sit on the scorecard.
Booking is required, not just recommended, and slots go up to 60 days ahead. That's a bit of a faff if you fancy a spontaneous Sunday round, but it does mean you're not queueing behind six other families on a wet half term. Groups are capped at six players a slot, and a foursome should get round in about an hour. Cancel with less than 24 hours notice and you lose the money, so pin the date down before you book.
Pricing is per person rather than a flat entry fee: £8.75 for a child, £11.85 for an adult, with family tickets at £35 for four and £41 for five working out cheaper than paying separately. Under-4s play free with a paying adult, and any adult just supervising rather than playing gets in free too. It is card only, so leave the coppers at home.
The café is open to anyone, played or not, serving pizzas, paninis and Costa coffee from 10am, and it is a proper spot to park a pushchair since the whole course is step-free. Picnics are not allowed on site, so factor the café into your budget rather than a packed lunch. Parking is on-site and includes disabled bays, and the course itself is wheelchair accessible throughout.
