What it’s like

Free entry to watch lambing in spring, sheep-shearing in summer, and a nature trail to wander in between.

There's no ticket price here, which already puts it ahead of most farm days out. What you actually get depends on the season: spring brings the lambing, summer the sheep-shearing, and either side of those you've got nature trails to walk and wildlife to spot along the way. There's also a spot for painting a masterpiece, so bring a change of clothes if your artist takes the job seriously.

It's open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am, which means Mondays and Tuesdays are out, worth remembering if you're planning a specific day. Being free entry with no booking link listed, this doesn't feel like a place you need to plan around a slot, you can just turn up on an open day.

The one rule that might catch you out is no picnics on site. There's a café doing on-site food instead, so you're not left hungry, but if you'd packed sandwiches for the car park you'll need a rethink. Parking itself is easy, with ample free space including disabled and coach parking, so getting there isn't the faff some farms make it.

Birthday parties and school visits are both catered for if you're after something more organised than a wander round. Given it's outdoors throughout, a dry day makes the nature trail bit far more appealing than a wet one.
