What it’s like

Intimate stand-up nights for older teens, with tickets from £8.54 and groups capped at four.

This one's for the fourteen-plus crowd rather than a family day out. It's a proper small comedy room, so you're getting stand-up in close quarters rather than a big theatre show, which is either exactly what makes it fun or exactly why it won't suit a nervous first-timer. Shows on the books include a work-in-progress set from Chloe Petts at £8.54 and a full show from Marc Jennings at £13.50, so pricing depends entirely on who's on.

Under 18s are welcome, but only before 8pm, and they recommend 14 as the minimum age because the language on stage is not exactly Sunday school. That's worth building your evening around if you've got a teenager keen to go: book an early show and you're sorted, but anything after 8pm is over 18s only, no exceptions.

Tickets are sold online or on the door, and they're strict about groups of four maximum, apparently to keep the room's atmosphere intact rather than turn it into a stag do. If you need a bigger group you have to email ahead and ask nicely. Seating's unreserved, so getting there for door opening actually matters if you want a decent view rather than craning round a pillar.

Space is genuinely tight, so leave the shopping and the Brompton at home; there's not much room to store anything under your seat. Food isn't allowed in the comedy room itself, and the toilets aren't wheelchair accessible, though there's a gentle ramp into the room itself and a portable one for the side door step if needed.

Plan your visit

How much are tickets?

It depends on the show. A work-in-progress set is £8.54, a full show like Marc Jennings' is £13.50.

Is it suitable for kids?

Not really a kids' venue, but under 18s can come before 8pm and 14 is the recommended minimum age. Language on stage is strong, so it's a teenager thing rather than a family thing.

Do we need to book ahead?

Tickets are sold online in advance or on the door at showtime, but you can't book by phone. Turn up on time as seating is unreserved.

Can we bring a big group?

Tickets are capped at four to keep the room's atmosphere, so anything bigger needs an email to the venue first.

Is the venue accessible for wheelchairs?

There's a gentle ramp into the room and a portable ramp for a step at the side door, but the toilets aren't accessible. Nearest accessible toilets are at The Camden Head.
