What it’s like

A free museum by Kirkstall Abbey with reconstructed Victorian streets to wander round.

There's no entry fee here, which makes it an easy add-on if you're already at Kirkstall Abbey and the kids have got some looking-left in them. The museum's built around reconstructed streets from Victorian Leeds, shops and cobbles and all, so it's less a glass-case museum and more a walk-through one, which tends to hold attention a bit longer than a row of information boards.

There's an accessible toilet, baby change and a changing places facility on site. Parking's available too, and they take group bookings if you're going with more than your own crew, a childminder group or a few families together.

What's missing from what they publish is opening hours and exactly what age it suits. Given it's free, though, there's not much to lose by turning up and seeing how long your particular kids last on the cobbled streets.
