What it’s like
Weekly Monday sessions of kayaking, climbing, abseiling and expeditions for young people aged 6 to 25.
This is a Scout group that meets every Monday night, and the activity list reads like a school trip wish list: kayaking, abseiling, zorbing, expeditions overseas, even learning to fly a plane. Younger members start with the basics, practical skills and games with friends, and as they move up through the age groups the activities get bigger, up to climbing walls and survival skills.
It covers a big age range, 6 right up to 25, so there's a genuine ladder here rather than one session that suits everyone equally. A six-year-old joining in isn't doing the same night as a seventeen-year-old planning an overseas expedition, and that's the point. Younger ones get the confidence-building and teamwork side, older members get the adventurous stuff like abseiling and photography trips.
There's no booking link, you just turn up on a Monday night. That's easier than it sounds but it does mean you won't get a slick online sign-up process, more the traditional walk-in-and-ask approach Scout groups tend to run on.
