If you fancy learning a new skill without your kids in tow, The Art Academy is worth knowing about. It's an adults-only (18+) set-up close to the centre, with free parking and an accessible toilet, and it's genuinely aimed at beginners as much as anyone dusting off old skills. There's no pressure to be good already. For the kids themselves, Art 4 Youth runs fine art courses and workshops for ages 7 to 16, a couple of miles out from the centre. You can book a set course, drop into a one-off session, or go for one of their Celebration Classes if you're after something a bit different for a birthday. Between the two, it's an easy choice: evenings out for you at The Art Academy, daytime sessions for children at Art 4 Youth.
