Selina Cartmell directs this Tony award-winning Sondheim musical comedy at the Royal Exchange Theatre, set in turn-of-the-century Sweden. Mismatched couples waltz through a series of romantic misfires and self-delusions in search of a happy ending, in a show that features Sondheim's bittersweet masterpiece "Send in the Clowns". Music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim, with a book by Hugh Wheeler, suggested by a film by Ingmar Bergman. The run takes place across December and January, with both afternoon matinee and evening performances scheduled on different dates throughout. Age guidance is 14+. Selected performances include sensory adapted, audio described and captioned options. Standard tickets start from £15, plus a £2 order fee.
