Free exhibition at Millennium Gallery exploring Ruskin's 1884 lecture linking pollution to climate change.
This display in the Ruskin Collection looks at Storm-Cloud, the 1884 lecture in which John Ruskin was among the first to link industrial pollution with what we'd now call climate change. The exhibition traces the legacy of his observations, drawing on the Guild of St George's collection of Ruskin's art, manuscripts and minerals held at the gallery. It suits anyone interested in art history, Sheffield's Victorian heritage, or the surprisingly early origins of environmental thinking. Entry is free, though a £5 donation is suggested to support the gallery. The Millennium Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm, closed Mondays including bank holidays.
