Photographer Farren van Wyk talks about her new photobook exploring South African-Dutch identity and history.

South African-Dutch photographer Farren van Wyk comes to Bristol for the BOP 26 festival weekend to talk about her new photobook, Mixedness is my Mythology, co-published by Fw: Books and Deadbeat Club. She explores the historical relationship between South Africa and the Netherlands, looking at migration, ethnicity, colonialism and apartheid. Born in 1993, Farren saw the last year of the apartheid era, which officially classified her as "coloured", and the book draws on black and white analogue photography to build a personal mythology rooted in family history, iconic imagery and reappropriated cultural symbols. The talk is followed by questions from the floor and a book signing. Tickets are £6 regular, with £4 for Martin Parr Foundation members and students. The BOP 26 talks programme is supported by The Kraszna-Krausz Foundation.
