A free display of stories, art and traditions from the Anindilyakwa People of Australia's Groote archipelago.

This display in the Belonging Gallery on Floor 1 shares stories of identity, belonging and resilience from the Anindilyakwa People, or Warnumamalya (true people), the Traditional Owners of the Groote archipelago off the north coast of Australia. It was designed by and written with Anindilyakwa artists and Elders, building on years of collaboration between the community and Manchester Museum, including the return of 174 cultural heritage items to Country in 2023. Through their own words, art and traditions, the display offers an insight into the community's arts practice today. Entry is free and visitors can just drop in, with no need to book.
