2026 Open Days

Free open days at Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary in West Runton to meet the rescued animals.

Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary in West Runton opens its gates daily from Sunday 29th March through to the end of October 2026, giving visitors the chance to wander round and see the rescued animals in their paddocks and enclosures. Entry is free, and the sanctuary is open every day except Saturdays, though it does make an exception for Easter Saturday. There's a gift shop to browse along with a bric-a-brac shop, and animal-friendly refreshments are available on site. Dogs are welcome as long as they're kept on a lead. The sanctuary has been recognised by the English Tourism Council under its Quality Assured Visitor Attraction Scheme, with inspectors praising the peaceful atmosphere and the clean, well-kept condition of the animals and their enclosures.
