Weekly theatre design workshops exploring set and costume design through the Citz's production of 1984.
This is a six-week workshop series for adults interested in theatrical design, running at the Citizens Theatre's Event Studio. Led by scenic designer Jen McGinley, with support from Heritage Engagement Officer Nicola McHendry, the sessions look at set and costume design through the lens of the Citizens' Main Stage production of 1984, as well as earlier dystopian productions from the Citz stage including The Crucible (2011) and Blasted (2002). Participants take part in discussion and practical activities covering the principles and processes behind scenic design, building creative skills and a deeper understanding of how design choices shape storytelling on stage. It suits anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of theatrical design, whether new to it or already working in the field. Places must be booked before the first session. The course costs £60, with a £1.50 transaction fee applying on top.
