BEST FOR

Ages 7+

Beginner-friendly Japanese sashiko stitching workshops at Chiswick House, suitable for ages 7 and up.

A relaxed, two-hour introduction to Japanese sashiko stitching held at the Learning Hub, led by Alicia Lai of B_Boheme. You'll learn the basics of the technique, from transferring a pattern to working the distinctive running stitches, using reclaimed denim to make a piece to take home. No sewing experience is needed, just a willingness to have a go, and all materials and equipment are provided. Sessions run monthly from October 2026, with a Saturday morning option on the first Saturday of the month and a Wednesday evening option on the third Wednesday. You can come along for a one-off session or return to build on your skills, and returning stitchers are welcome to bring a garment or textile of their own to mend or embellish. Suitable for anyone aged 7 and up, and fine to come alone or with a friend.
