A talk by former Army Air Corps pilot Tom Macklin on his time working with former Soviet pilots in Turkmenistan.
Former Army Air Corps pilot Tom Macklin shares his experiences living and working in Turkmenistan, a former Soviet state, where he helped train pilots moving from ageing 1960s aircraft onto the modern AW139 helicopter. The talk looks at the culture clash and shared learning that came from putting Cold War adversaries in the same cockpit, and takes place in the Museum at Middle Wallop. There's the option to book a pre-lecture dinner in the Apache Café at 6pm beforehand, with chicken curry, rice and naan bread on offer (a vegetarian option is also available). Meal bookings need to be made by Friday 16th October. Proceeds from the event go towards the Museum's charitable work preserving the history of British Army aviation.
