CATEGORY · RAINY DAY APPROVED
Observatories & Planetariums in Cardiff
If you're picturing telescopes and star shows, Cardiff's version of this category is a bit different. There's just the one entry, and it's not a planetarium at all: the Giant Wheel, a couple of kilometres out from the centre, lit up with over 20,000 colour-changing LED lights. Tickets start from £3, it's open to all ages, and you'll need a card as it doesn't take cash. There isn't a choice to make here, so it's really a question of whether an observation wheel scratches the itch. It suits toddlers just as well as older kids, since it's a ride rather than a show, and being outdoors and lit up, it works well for an evening trip rather than just daytime. Bring a card, not cash, and you're set.
