Model Villages & Miniature Railways in Stoke-on-Trent

None of these are in Stoke itself, but all are within a decent drive. Out at Stafford, Amerton Railway hauls historic carriages to a picnic halt where you watch the trains pass, with Santa specials and teddy runs through the year (booking ahead is required). A drive out to Buxton, Pavilion Gardens is free to wander, with outdoor play parks, then a paid miniature train or boat ride if you fancy it. Further out still, Blakemere Village in Northwich is free to enter and has its own mini railway, plus Segway forest rides, falconry and archery, and a playground for anyone too small for the rest. For free days out, Pavilion Gardens and Blakemere both cost nothing to get into, with paid extras only at Buxton if you want the train or boats. Amerton suits families planning ahead, since it needs booking, and rewards a full day out with the picnic area. Younger children are well covered at Blakemere's playground and the outdoor play at Pavilion Gardens, while older ones will enjoy the archery and Segway rides at Blakemere.
