Aquariums & Sea Life in Southampton

There isn't an aquarium in Southampton itself on our books, but if you're happy with a bit of a drive, Liberty's Owl, Raptor & Reptile Centre out at Ringwood is a decent alternative for a wildlife day out. It's built around owls, raptors and reptiles rather than fish tanks, with bird flying shows and animal talks through the day. There's a sandpit play area for younger children to dig about in while older ones watch the demonstrations, and a cafe plus picnic area if you want to make a full day of it rather than rushing back. Parking is free, which helps given the distance, and there's a gift shop for the obligatory soft toy on the way out. Worth planning around the show times so you don't miss the bit everyone actually came for.
