What it’s like
Instructor-led woodland and water challenges across 95 acres, from climbing walls to axe throwing, run in 90-minute sessions.
This is a proper activity centre rather than a quick play stop. Across 95 acres you've got climbing walls, an aerial runway, Jacob's Ladder and a crate challenge, plus water adventures with a boat trip thrown in. There's axe throwing too, which is the one that'll get talked about on the way home, and quieter team stuff like pioneering, a blind trail and camouflage and tracking for groups who want to work together rather than just queue for a slide.
Everything runs to a timetable. Sessions are 90 minutes each, in set slots through the day (09:30, 11:15, 13:45 and 15:30 in the warmer months, half an hour earlier in winter), so you're not just turning up and wandering between activities. That structure suits it well, since instructors lead each one and staff are trained in first aid and child behaviour management, but it does mean you're working around their clock rather than yours.
Access has clearly been thought through: step-free routes, two all-terrain wheelchairs on site, and activities tailored so everyone can join in. Dietary needs are covered too, including gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free, though you'd want to flag specifics with the bookings team in advance. If you're coming by train, Botley Station is about a 10 minute walk away.
Because everything is instructor-led and risk-assessed, this feels built more for organised groups, schools and families booking a proper session than for a spontaneous half hour. Given the range of activities and the 90-minute blocks, most people will end up filling a good chunk of a day rather than nipping in.
