What it’s like
A maize maze and a sunflower field to pick your own stems from, plus homemade gelato while you're there.
August is the month here: a mini maize maze to get lost in and a sunflower field where you cut your own stems to take home. It's a proper pick-your-own event rather than a big attractions park, so the pace is slow and the fun is mostly in the picking and the wandering.
Entry to the maze is £3 for adults and £1.50 for over-fives, same again for the sunflower field, and then you pay per stem on top if you want to take flowers home, £1.50 each or £7.50 for six. Bring your own secateurs, they don't supply them, which is an easy thing to forget until you're stood in the field with no way to cut anything. There's pumpkin picking too, and homemade gelato and sorbet on site that's worth saving for after the maze rather than before.
It runs daily through August, 12pm to 5pm, and there's no booking needed, you just turn up. The car park is free but small, so if you're going on a warm weekend afternoon it's worth getting there earlier rather than later. Dogs on leads are welcome, and there's a self-service vending setup for milk and milkshakes running from 7am to 7pm if you're passing outside the main hours.
There's no café building as such but picnics are allowed, so a rug on the grass works fine if you want to make a morning of it before the maze opens at midday.
