What it’s like
Pantomime and family shows in Newtownabbey, with babes in arms welcome free if the show's aimed at that age.
This is a proper theatre doing pantomime and family shows, not a soft play or a farm, so the day out here is sitting down together and watching something. Under 18 months go free if they're on a lap, which is a nice touch if you've got a baby you can't leave at home, but the site is clear that under-3s generally aren't admitted unless the show is specifically pitched at that age group. Worth knowing before you book for a toddler expecting something gentler.
There's a pre-theatre menu if you want to make an evening of it, including charcuterie boards and wine, though you need to order that 24 hours ahead rather than deciding on the night. Parking is free on site with accessible spaces close to the entrance, which takes one bit of stress out of theatre trips with kids in tow.
If anyone in your group needs extra support, the Centre Stage registration gets you priority seating and a free ticket for whoever's providing assistance. Mobility scooters can't go into the auditorium itself for evacuation reasons, but staff will help you transfer to a wheelchair and there's somewhere safe to leave the scooter outside. Stalls have four wheelchair spaces and there are two more in the gallery.
