What it’s like
A Hungry Horse pub with burgers, fish and chips and sharers, high chairs on hand and food served right through the afternoon.
This is a straightforward pub menu rather than a special trip out: burgers, a Chicken New Yorker, fish and chips, sharers to split across the table. It's the sort of food that turns up fast and nobody argues with, which counts for a lot when you've got a hungry six-year-old and a menu to get through.
Food service runs to 9pm every day, even though the doors stay open till 11. Weekdays it starts at 11am, weekends food kicks off at 10am if you fancy an early lunch after a morning at the park. High chairs are there, breastfeeding is fine, and there's wheelchair access and toilets on site, so getting in and settled with a buggy or a pram shouldn't be a fight.
You can turn up without booking, though they're upfront that they can't promise a table if it's a busy period, weekend lunchtimes being the obvious risk. There's wifi if you need to keep an older one occupied between courses, and parking's available if you're driving over.
Worth flagging if it matters to you: the meat isn't halal-certified, so that's a no if you need it to be. And if anyone in your party looks under 25, staff will want to see a passport or full UK driving licence before serving alcohol, no exceptions on what counts as ID.
