What it’s like

A carvery pub with an outdoor play area, so the kids can be off your hands between courses.

The carvery is the main event here, slow-cooked meats, Yorkshire puddings and seasonal veg, served daily rather than just Sundays, which is handy if you fancy a roast on a random Tuesday. There's also the usual pub run of curries, grills, burgers and sandwiches if a roast dinner is a hard sell for one of your kids.

The outdoor play area is the bit that makes this more than just another carvery stop. It's not a soft play centre, so don't expect ball pits, but it's enough to get them outside while plates are cleared or the next course is sorted. Dogs are welcome throughout the pub too, so it's not a place you need to leave the family dog in the car for.

It's open from midday every day, running to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. There's parking on site and it's wheelchair accessible, both of which matter more than usual with a pushchair or a wriggly toddler in tow.
