What it’s like
Group cookery sessions in Brighton where you cook a world-cuisine menu together, booked as a party of 12 or more.
This is a book-the-whole-kitchen kind of place rather than a drop-in class. You get the room for two or three hours and work through a menu together: bao buns, an Indian spread, Mexican, that sort of thing, plus simpler biscuit-baking sessions if you want something less involved. The kitchen itself is properly kitted out, four big ovens, a dishwasher, an adjustable worktop, so nobody's standing around waiting for oven space.
The catch is the group size. Sessions are priced at £75 a head plus VAT with a minimum of 12 people, so this only really works if you're pulling together a birthday, a work do or a decent-sized family gathering rather than turning up as a lone parent with one or two kids. If you can get the numbers, it's straightforward to organise: they'll adapt the menu for dietary requirements and let you bring your own drinks, with a £20 corkage fee on the night.
It's a five minute walk from Brighton station, step-free and wheelchair accessible throughout, with toilets and wifi on site. Book it as a birthday party and everyone in the group cooks and eats what they've made rather than watching a chef do it for them.
