What it’s like
A seated stand-up night in Southampton with three pro acts and two intervals, strictly 16+ even with an adult.
This is an 18-and-under no-go zone, so leave it for the grown-ups, or the nearly-grown-ups over 16 who come with one. It's an independent comedy night that's been running since 2017, moving between two venues: Heartbreakers on Thursdays and Papillon on Fridays. The lineup is properly stacked too, comics you'll recognise from Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week or Taskmaster sharing a bill with sharp circuit acts and newer names on the way up.
The format is compere and opener, interval, middle act, interval, headliner, so you get three distinct sets and two chances to top up your drink. Thursdays at Heartbreakers sometimes swap the middle slot for two newer acts instead, which is worth knowing if you've got a favourite you're going specifically to see. Doors are 7.15pm on Fridays and 7.30pm on Thursdays, with the show running 8pm to 10.30pm.
It's all seated but not allocated, so if you want your group sat together, get there when doors open rather than drifting in fashionably late. Tickets start at £19.50 early bird and climb to £23.50 if you leave it to final release, with a group saver working out at £19 a head for eight. Both venues have full bars, Papillon does British food, and there's 10% off at Mango Thai Tapas beforehand if you fancy dinner first.
The one to know before you book: most shows sell out, so turning up on the night and hoping for the best is a gamble that usually doesn't pay off. Tickets are non-refundable as well. Heartbreakers is upstairs with no lift, stairs only, while Papillon has an accessible entrance, so pick your night with that in mind if it matters.
