What it’s like

Hundreds of board games to hire by the hour, with staff who'll teach you the rules and TCG nights for older kids.

The whole point here is the games library, pay by the hour and staff will pull something off the shelf for you and explain it if you don't fancy reading a rulebook. It's £2.50 a person per hour with the fourth hour free, or £11 for an all-day pass if you know you'll be settling in. Bring your own games instead and it drops to £1.50 an hour, which is worth knowing if your family's already got a shelf of favourites at home.

Under-3s aren't charged, and anyone under 18 needs an adult with them and has to be out by 10pm, so a school-night session with a teenager has a natural cut-off point. Beyond the general library there are ticketed events most nights, Lorcana, Pokémon on Sundays, D&D, Flesh and Blood, One Piece, usually around £6.50 entry, which suits kids who've moved past family board games and into the card game stage.

Food's on-site only, beer and bagels alongside cakes and sweet treats, and they'll do gluten free, veggie or vegan on some items if you ask. You can't bring your own snacks in, which is fair enough given they're selling the food, but worth knowing before you pack a picnic bag out of habit. There's no parking on site either, so you're looking at the Dover Street car park or one of the others nearby, though it's close enough to the Clock Tower and the train station that plenty of people will walk in anyway.

One thing to flag if it affects you: it's first and second floor with stairs only, no lift. At busy times staff may also ask table players to make room for people who've paid for the games library, so if you're just after food and a chat rather than a full session, go at a quieter hour.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

£2.50 a person per hour for the games library, with the fourth hour free, or £11 for an all-day pass. Bring your own games and it's £1.50 an hour instead.

Do we need to book?

You can just turn up, but you can call ahead to reserve a table or a specific game. Groups of ten or more may need a £5 per person deposit.

Is it OK to bring young kids?

Under-3s go free and staff will teach the rules if you're new to a game. Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them and has to leave by 10pm.

What about parking?

There's no parking on site. The closest car park is on Dover Street, and there are others in the city centre nearby.

Can we bring our own food?

No, only food and drink bought at ReRoll can be eaten there. They do beer, bagels, cakes and sweet treats, with some gluten free, veggie and vegan options.

Is there disabled access?

It's first and second floor with stairs only and no lift, so it can't accommodate wheelchairs or anything that needs step-free access.

What events run for kids into card games?

There are ticketed nights for Lorcana, Pokémon on Sundays, D&D, Flesh and Blood, One Piece and Sigma, most around £6.50 entry.

Can we book a birthday or group event?

Call to reserve for events, and larger groups may be asked for a small deposit against the final bill.

How long do people usually stay?

The pricing is built around hourly play, with the fourth hour free, so a lot of families end up staying three or four hours once they've picked a game.

Is there a membership?

Membership runs £120 for six months or £200 a year and covers free table cover charges, free entry to social events, and discounts on food and retail.
