What it’s like
Unlimited steam and diesel train rides plus a miniature village, tunnel maze and treetop trail, all on one all-day ticket.
The train is the headline, and it's unlimited, so once you've paid your entry you can ride round the four stations as many times as you like without anyone doing the maths on "one more go". Beyond the railway there's a proper spread of things to climb into: the Twilight Village has miniature playhouses with hidden passages and tunnels that smaller kids will vanish into for ages, the Warren Adventure Tunnel Maze ends in a slide, and Foxy Hollow has swings and den building for when they need a breather from being train drivers. Older ones with energy to spare will head for the Treetop Adventure Trail, with its bouncy bridge and ladders.
Tickets last all day and you can turn up whenever suits, which takes the pressure off timing everything around a session slot. It's £11 for an adult and £9.50 for a child, not pocket change for a family, but during school holidays a second visit gets you half off if you keep your original ticket, which is a decent trick if you're staying locally. The coin-operated ride-on tractors at Perrygrove Station are a nice extra, just keep some change handy so it's not a fight over the last 20p.
There's a café doing sandwiches, pasties and local ice cream, and picnic tables scattered at Perrygrove and Foxy Hollow if you'd rather bring your own. Dogs are welcome on a lead for £1.50, though they're banned from the treehouses and the Twilight Village, so it's worth planning who's minding the dog while the kids are inside. Parking's free and there's a large stone and grass car park with disabled bays, though the woodland paths themselves aren't wheelchair friendly even though most of the rest of the site has level access.
Open every weekend all year and daily in school holidays, with added Tuesday and Thursday openings in term time between February and October half term. Birthday parties are a lovely idea on paper, three hours for £17 a child with a free adult included, but they're not running again until February 2027 while the space gets redeveloped, so that's one for the diary rather than this term.
