What it’s like

A hands-on pasta making class for over-12s, starting from £25, in a residential Bath backstreet.

You're rolling, cutting and shaping fresh pasta from scratch, not just watching someone else do it. The class walks through the actual technique and the theory behind it, so you leave knowing why the dough behaves the way it does, not just with a bag of tagliatelle.

It's open to complete beginners, which is worth knowing if you've been put off cooking classes before by everyone else seeming to know what they're doing. Attendees need to be over 12, and anyone under 16 has to come with a paying adult. From 16 you can turn up on your own.

Prices start at £25. It's on a residential street with only a handful of free on-street spaces, so don't bank on parking right outside. The bus 31 Park and Ride stops nearby at St Stephen's Church, and it's a decent 35 to 40 minute walk if you're coming from Bath Spa station.

If gluten-free is a factor, ask when you book. They'll source dry gluten-free pasta for eating, but their machines aren't really built for gluten-free dough, so the fresh stuff on the day might not be up to their usual standard.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

Prices start from £25.

What age do you need to be?

You need to be over 12. Under-16s must come with a paying adult, and from 16 you can attend on your own.

Do I need any cooking experience?

No, they say everyone can join in regardless of experience level.

Can I change my booking?

You can amend it up to 28 days before, and there may be an admin fee. Closer than that, your best bet is finding someone to take your place, since refunds only happen if they can fill it.

Is there parking?

There's free on-street parking but only a few spaces, so it's worth planning to walk, bus, or get dropped off instead.

What if someone needs gluten-free?

They offer gluten-free options for private parties and mention it when you enquire. The fresh pasta side of things can be hit and miss on gluten-free dough because of their machines, so they bring in dry gluten-free pasta to eat instead.
