What it’s like
Themed role-play rooms, from a mini shop to a police jail, for a 90-minute session aimed at under-sevens.
Little ones get to be a shopkeeper, chef, doctor or police officer here, moving between themed rooms rather than one big soft play frame. The medical centre has teddy patients waiting for treatment, there's a pretend café and shop to run, and a police jail area with wanted posters for anyone who fancies being on the wrong side of the law for the afternoon. It's aimed at 1 to 7 year olds, with most of it really clicking for the 2 to 6 age group, so older siblings might find it a bit young after a while.
Sessions run for 90 minutes and you're asked to arrive within 5 minutes of your start time, which is fair enough but does mean turning up late eats into your visit. It's £7.95 for a child aged 2 and up, £5.95 for 1 to 2 year olds, and just £1.50 for the accompanying adult, which is a nice touch when so many soft play places charge grown-ups full price to sit and watch. Under 1s go free with a paying child or adult.
There's a café on site doing hot drinks, milkshakes, sandwiches and cake, with vegan and gluten-free options if you need them. You can't bring your own food or drink in though, everything eaten in the café area has to be bought there, so factor that into the cost if you were planning a packed lunch. Booking's recommended rather than compulsory, and walk-ins are welcome if a session has space.
There's no car park on site, but Swinegate and The Square are both free and a short walk away. Birthday parties are on offer too, from £16.95 a child including food, with themed options if you get in touch by phone or email to arrange it.
