What it’s like

Free woodland, heathland and a pond to poke about in, with surfaced tracks that make it an easy one for dogs and buggies too.

There's no gate to pay at here. You just turn up and let the kids loose across woodland, heathland and playing fields, with a pond thrown in for pond-dipping or just chucking stones in if that's more their thing. It's the sort of open space where a two-year-old can toddle and a nine-year-old can properly disappear into the trees for a bit.

It's all outdoors, so there's no fallback if the heavens open, and you won't find a café or shop to duck into. Pack your own snacks and dress for the weather, because once you're out on the heathland there's nowhere to shelter.

The surfaced tracks are the bit worth knowing about if you've got a buggy or a dog. They make the park a lot more manageable than a straight woodland walk, and dogs are welcome on them.

There isn't a set age range given for this one, but the mix of playing fields, a pond and woodland to explore means it'll suit toddlers who just want to run and older kids who want to build a den or hunt for tadpoles.
