What it’s like

A small community farm with animals to meet, a playground to burn energy on, and a barn café for afterwards.

The animals and the playground are the two jobs here, and from what they list that's really the whole day: wander round to see the farm animals, then let the kids loose on the playground while you get your bearings. It's not a big-ticket attraction with rides and shows, it's a proper community farm, and that's either exactly what you want or a sign to look elsewhere.

Monday's the one to watch. The site says access is limited to the café and playground only that day, so if the animals are the point of the trip, save Monday for something else and go Tuesday to Sunday instead, when it's open 9am to 4pm daily.

The Barn Café does hot and cold food, homemade cakes, and a breakfast and lunch menu, with vegan and gluten free options listed too. Afternoon tea is £18.95 for an adult and £6.95 for a child, which feels like the treat-yourself option rather than the everyday one. There's a party option as well: £90 gets ten children two hours of exclusive use of the tea huts with catering, or £40 if you'd rather bring your own food for the same two hours.

It's wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet and baby change on site, so buggies and wheelchairs aren't an afterthought. Dogs are allowed on a lead in the car park and outside the café, but not around the rest of the farm, and there's no smoking or vaping anywhere on site including the car park.
