What it’s like

A small community library where Thursday's free Story Time for under-fives is the main event, plus books to borrow.

Thursday's your day here. Story Time runs 11:15am to 11:45am for under-fives and their grown-ups, free, drop in, no booking faff. Half an hour is about right for a two or three-year-old, though a baby will mostly just watch the bigger ones. It's term time only, so check the calendar before you bundle everyone into the car.

The rest is a proper library, and for a four or five-year-old that means picking their own stack of books and feeling very important about the card. There's an IT suite they can use too. If you're in a hurry on the uniform front, the site mentions a school uniform hub for Greenford residents, up to 5 items. Worth knowing that's there.

The catch is the hours. Tuesday and Thursday 11am to 5pm, Wednesday and Saturday 10am to 2pm, closed the other three days. That Wednesday and Saturday afternoon shut-down rules out after-school trips entirely, so it's a morning or a weekday-afternoon outing or nothing. Free entry, which takes the sting out of it.

Since 1 October 2025 the place has been run by community volunteers rather than Ealing Council, and they say the times are being expanded over the next year. So the people running it are clearly trying to build something. Events are free but you fill in a sign-up form to hold a place, which is the one bit of admin to expect.

Plan your visit

Is there anything for babies and toddlers?

Story Time on Thursdays, 11:15am to 11:45am, for under-fives and their carers. Free, drop in, term time only.

When is it open?

Tuesday and Thursday 11am to 5pm, Wednesday and Saturday 10am to 2pm. Closed the rest of the week.

Do we need to book?

Story Time, no. Events are free but they ask you to fill in a sign-up form to reserve a place.

How much does it cost?

Entry is free. Borrowing books needs a library card.

How long does Story Time last?

Half an hour, 11:15am to 11:45am. Long enough for a toddler, short enough that nobody melts down.

Can we hire a space for a party or a group?

They hire out flexible spaces, meeting rooms, larger event spaces and the IT suite. You'd arrange that with the library.
