What it’s like
Adults-only group cookery classes at Forestside, from £65 a head for Asian menus up to £85 for ribeye dry aged beef.
This is a private group booking rather than a drop-in class, so it suits a work do, a hen party or a milestone birthday more than a quiet night out. You pick a themed menu, the price depends on what you're cooking, £65 a head gets you the Asian menu, £70 covers Italian or burger nights and rump dry aged beef, £80 for sirloin and £85 if you want the ribeye done properly. Sessions run 2 to 3 hours and everyone cooks under tuition rather than watching a chef do it for you.
Groups need to hit a minimum before it's worth booking, 10 people on a weekday or 16 at weekends, so this isn't really one for a couple wanting a date night unless you can rope in friends. Full payment goes down upfront with a 10% service charge added on confirmation, and there's no refund if your numbers drop after that, which stings if someone drops out last minute. It's a working kitchen so no alcohol before or during the class, complimentary wine is poured through the session instead.
Christmas parties get their own menus, three courses at £70 or four at £80, both capped at 24 people and needing at least 10. Turn up 15 minutes early so the class can start on time for everyone else waiting. Parking is at Forestside Shopping Centre but it's a 4 hour limit, worth knowing if your class and any lingering afterwards might run you over.
