What it’s like
A proper two-hour bigtop show with acrobatics, balancing and aerial acts, plus free workshops on Saturday mornings.
Under the bigtop it's acrobatics, balancing and aerial acts, the sort of thing that still gets a gasp out of a room full of kids even when they've seen it on a screen a hundred times. The main show runs at around two hours with an interval, which is a decent stretch for younger children, though the Halloween and Christmas versions are trimmed to about an hour and fifteen with no interval if you'd rather not push your luck with a fidgety five-year-old.
Tickets start at £8.99, which feels fair for a live show, and there's a free ticket scheme for families who need it, plus occasional discounts if you're rolling up as a group of ten or more. Worth knowing that under-2s go free if they're happy on your lap, but need their own ticket if they want a seat. Buy direct from the box office rather than through a ticketing agent and you'll dodge the booking fee too.
One rule that's a bit of a faff: you can't bring your own snacks into the bigtop, only water and baby milk are exempt, so any refreshments have to be bought on site. Anyone under 16 needs an adult with them, which is standard for this sort of show but worth remembering if an older sibling was hoping to take the younger ones in alone.
The venue's set up with flexible seating for wheelchair users and step-free access where possible, and you're able to leave and return during the show if you need to. Saturday mornings bring free circus workshops at the main locations too, a nice way to let the kids have a go themselves before or after watching the professionals do it properly.
