What it’s like
Art classes and workshops for children and adults, run by an artist who also does school visits and an exhibition at W5.
Kids get stuck into proper art classes here, not just colouring in. Expect workshops built around drawing, painting and general creative mucking about, plus demonstrations and talks where Dawn explains how she actually works. There's also a Snail Artist exhibition with interactive activities at W5 Belfast, which is a nice one to combine with a studio visit if you're making a day of it.
Classes run for both children and adults, and there are corporate and school sessions too, so it's not a strictly kids-only setup, but the workshops are clearly aimed at younger creatives as much as anyone. School visits get tailored to whatever the class is working on, mixing storytelling, drawing and even a bit of science, and the whole thing is pitched as relaxed rather than a formal art lesson.
If you can't get to Belfast, or the weather's grim and nobody fancies the drive, there are online Zoom classes too, a habit Dawn picked up during lockdown and kept going. It means you can join in from anywhere, which is handy if you've got a reluctant traveller or you just want to try a session before committing to an in-person one.
Booking is done directly, either through a phone call or a message, rather than an online system. There's no set price list here.

How do we book a class or workshop?
Call 07713 434472 or email dawn@dawncrothers.com, or send a message through the online chat. There's no online booking system, so it's a direct conversation to sort dates.
Are the classes suitable for young children?
The workshops are aimed at children as well as adults, with sessions adapted to suit the group. There's no strict minimum age mentioned, so it's worth flagging your child's age when you enquire.
Can we do a class without travelling to Belfast?
Yes, Dawn runs online Zoom classes for children and adults alongside the in-person sessions at the Belfast studio. These started during lockdown and have carried on since.
Does Dawn do anything with schools?
School visits are on offer, with sessions built around storytelling, drawing and science activities. Each one gets adapted to whatever the class or school needs, and the tone is kept informal rather than a strict art lesson.
