What it’s like

Board games, card games and LARP in a gaming space with over 600 titles, plus a craft room with 3D printers, for £6 a session.

This is a proper gaming venue rather than an arcade with flashing lights. Robin's Roost is the board game and two-player room, and the library runs to over 600 games, they say spanning 3000 years of gaming history, so you can go from a 15 minute filler to a 4 hour epic depending on how the day's going. There's War Games, Collectable Card Games, Role Playing Games and LARP on offer too, which is a proper mix if you've got a teenager who's outgrown the usual soft play and screen options.

Next door is Creatively Philled, the arts and crafts room, with paints, a sewing machine and two 3D printers. It's a nice change of pace if the gaming's got a bit intense and someone needs to sit and make something with their hands for a while.

A session is £6 a head, which they work out at £1.20 an hour if you stay the full stretch, and a visit here tends to run around five hours. If you're a regular, the monthly membership is £40 and the annual one £460, both letting you in as often as you like for free plus 5% off the shop. There's a snack shop on site too.

Opening hours are a bit irregular so it's worth having a proper look before you head down. Weekdays it's evenings only, 5pm to 10pm, Saturday it opens at midday and runs through to 10pm, and on the last Sunday of the month it's a shorter midday to 5pm slot.
