What it’s like
Free gallery visits and an upstairs studio stocked with drawing materials for young people to make their own art.
This is a small community arts centre where the main draw upstairs is a studio kitted out with drawing materials for young people, alongside a programme of children's art collective sessions built around creative themes. Downstairs, exhibitions are there to look round too, so you can mix a quiet wander with some actual making if the studio's in session.
It's free to get in, open Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 4.30pm, which is a narrow window if you're planning a weekend visit around naps or clubs. There's no booking link listed.
Access is worth knowing about if anyone in your group has mobility needs. The ground floor is fully accessible with a lift, but the first floor studio needs stairs or an evacuation chair, and if that's not workable they'll relocate a session down to the ground floor screen instead. Between 3pm and 4.30pm they ask visitors to wear a face covering, which is a small thing to factor in if you're going late in the day.
There isn't much fuss made about the place, which suits it. Staff are described as welcoming if you're feeling shy or unsure about walking in, and toilets are on site.
