What it’s like

A university campus venue for gigs and events, with a weekday coffee shop and a Thursday fruit and veg market.

This is a events space on a university campus, the sort of place that hosts gigs and ticketed events rather than a straightforward day out. If you're going for a show, you'll need to book or buy a ticket through the event page itself rather than just turning up.

Outside of events, there's the UP! Coffee Shop for a weekday coffee, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, though it's shut at weekends so don't plan a Saturday visit around it. On Thursdays there's also a fruit and veg market running from 10am to 4pm, which is a nice reason to swing by if you're on campus anyway.

Access looks properly thought through. There's lift access to all floors, accessible toilets with RADAR keys, and Blue Badge parking in car park 4. Companion or carer tickets are free, which is worth knowing if you're bringing someone who needs support. There's a hearing loop too, which matters for anyone who struggles with venue sound systems.

Dogs are assistance animals only, and they're upfront that loud events aren't the place for any animal, so leave the dog at home unless it's a working one. If you're coming by train, Reading station is about two miles away, roughly a 35 minute walk, or you can catch the 21 or 21a bus from town centre straight to the Whiteknights campus.
