Observatories & Planetariums in Hull

If you fancy an evening looking through a proper telescope, Hull's not the place for it, but Cleethorpes is worth the trip. Beacon Hill Observatory runs Friday evening sessions with a 16 inch telescope, and tickets start from £2, so it will not break the bank for a family outing. Beginners' sessions run from September to June, which suits anyone who has never looked through a telescope before and does not want to feel out of their depth. It suits ages 0 to 18, so younger children are welcome too, though a still evening with clear skies makes the biggest difference to what you actually see. There is only the one place listed here for stargazing, so the choice really comes down to whether a longer trip out to Cleethorpes on a Friday night fits your family's routine. Check what is on before you go, since sessions depend on the time of year.
