Witches & Healers. Something that was Ours - New Work by Rosie Reed Hillman: Launch

Free launch evening at The Portico Library for the new Witches & Healers exhibition, booking essential.

The Portico Library is launching its new exhibition Witches and Healers, built on Rosie Reed Hillman's project Something That Was Ours, which looks at what it means to be a witch today. The work brings together portraits of modern-day witches and healers with historic texts chosen by people who identify with witchcraft or healing practice, touching on menopause, mental health, ageing and women's sisterhood. Books on display include J. G. Frazer's The Golden Bough, William Harrison Ainsworth's The Lancashire Witches, and Jean Rhys' Wide Sargasso Sea. On the night there's a welcome and speeches at 6pm, with hard and soft drinks available by donation. It's free to attend but numbers are limited, so booking ahead is needed.
