A free seminar series from the Stirling Maxwell Centre looking at literature, running in person and online.

The Stirling Maxwell Centre's Autumn 2026 Seminar Series brings together writers and academics to talk about literature, with sessions held in hybrid format so you can join in person or online. Highlights include a conversation with William Marx and Pascal Quignard on the place of literature in the 21st century, and a talk from Albert Bates on Roman depictions of Jupiter's erotic metamorphoses viewed through ancient ekphrasis. The series runs across various Hunterian venues between 24 September and 22 October 2026, and is free and open to all. Exact dates and venues vary by session, so it suits anyone with an interest in literature and classical studies who wants to drop into talks that fit their schedule.
