A free film exhibition at the Hunterian Art Gallery looking back at America's turbulent 1970s protest era.

This is Naeem Mohaiemen's new three-channel film work, THROUGH A MIRROR, DARKLY, showing at the Hunterian Art Gallery. It revisits the 1970s, a decade of hopeful rebellions and catastrophic disappointments, focusing on May 1970, when American students protesting against domestic racism and overseas wars were met with state violence. The exhibition runs from Friday 5 June 2026 to Sunday 11 October 2026, open daily from 10am to 5pm at the Hunterian Art Gallery. It suits anyone with an interest in art, history or politics, and is a straightforward gallery visit rather than a hands-on activity for children.
