Northern Guitars Cafe Bar on Call Lane hosts live music every night, putting the spotlight on up-and-coming local talent. Most gigs are free to get into, so it's an easy place to drop by and catch a new act over a drink. Monday nights are Open Mic, and Tuesday is the venue's well-known Jam Night, both run as inclusive, supportive sessions for anyone who fancies getting up to play. The bar is open weekdays from midday till late, Saturdays from 11am till late, and Sundays from 2pm. There's a guitar shop upstairs too, stocking mostly pre-loved guitars and basses alongside the odd new model.
