Historian Roderick Bailey gives a free talk on the Second World War medics who pioneered battlefield blood transfusion.

This is an adults talk at the National Army Museum in Chelsea. Historian Roderick Bailey tells the story of the Lifesavers, small expert medical teams who brought blood transfusion to the front lines in the Second World War, from Dunkirk to the Burmese jungle, and transformed survival rates for wounded soldiers. Bailey is a historian at the University of Oxford specialising in the history of medicine and conflict, and author of books including Forgotten Voices of the Secret War. The talk runs for an hour and is free to attend, but booking is required. It suits adults with an interest in military history or the history of medicine.
