Coins of the Conquest display in the Magna Carta Vault

A new display of 11th century Lincoln-minted coins shown alongside the 1215 Magna Carta at Lincoln Castle.

Coins of the Conquest brings together a remarkable collection of coins minted in Lincoln during the reigns of Edward the Confessor, Harold II and William the Conqueror, on display in the Magna Carta Vault. The coins trace a period of dramatic change in English history and link to the Bayeux Tapestry, with the display forming part of the nationwide Bayeux Around Britain programme. It's shown alongside Lincoln Castle's own 1215 Magna Carta. The display runs daily from 14th September 2026 to 1st March 2027 and is included in the price of a Castle day ticket, so there's nothing extra to pay once you're in.
