A Black History Month talk at Kelvingrove exploring the legacies of colonialism and empire in Glasgow.
As part of Black History Month, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum hosts this session looking at Glasgow's history as a "City of Empire", examining how the legacies of colonialism have shaped the city and its collections. It ties in with the museum's Glasgow - City of Empire display, which explores this side of the city's past. The museum itself is free to enter and open to all ages, with wheelchair and pram access throughout via lifts, accessible toilets on every floor, and a hearing loop in place. Note that restoration works are ongoing at Kelvingrove, with some areas scaffolded and reduced parking on site, so it's a good idea to check access arrangements before you travel, particularly if you're planning to drive.
