The Arts Society Helmsley: A new royal tomb in Egypt: the life and death of Thutmose II

A talk on the 2022 discovery of Thutmose II's tomb, with hieroglyphs and Tutankhamun history too.

The Arts Society Helmsley presents a lecture tracing three landmark moments in Egyptology: the 1822 decipherment of Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the 1922 discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, and the 2022 find of a new pharaoh's tomb near the Valley of the Kings. The talk covers the life and death of Thutmose II alongside this wider story of how our understanding of ancient Egypt has developed. It takes place at Helmsley Arts Centre on Monday 2 November at 7pm.
