A free exhibition at Graves Gallery exploring Queer art and histories from Sheffield's collections.
This exhibition brings together historic and contemporary artworks and objects from Sheffield's collections, paired and grouped around three themes: Revolution, looking at the historical legal and social constraints on Queer expression; Revelation, uncovering coded messages that have been hidden or deliberately obscured in artworks; and Reinforcement, showing how Queer art and its histories continue to be retained and strengthened. It's curated by arts educator and curator Jon Sleigh. Alongside the artworks, visitors will see a bespoke wallpaper designed by Sheffield artist Lisa O'Hara, created from workshops with local LGBTQ+ communities including groups from SAYiT and Zest. Entry is free, with a suggested donation of £5. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm, and closed Sundays and Mondays including bank holidays.
